Profile
Dr Mitseas is a chartered Civil Engineer with post-graduate studies in Structural Engineering from National Technical University of Athens in Greece. In 2015, he completed his Ph.D. at the University of Liverpool in United Kingdom. Dr Mitseas rigorous research attitude and capacity allowed him to secure highly competitive doctoral scholarships, including the most prestigious Greek scholarship from National State Scholarships Foundation of Greece (IKY-NSF). In the following years, Dr Mitseas was found at Leibniz University of Hannover in Germany to teach as module coordinator Advanced Stochastic Structural Analysis and Random Vibration theory in postgraduate level. In 2019, he was appointed as Assistant Professor in the School of Civil Engineering at University of Leeds in United Kingdom whereas he serves as Visiting Academic at Leibniz University of Hannover, Germany and Southwest Jiaotong University, China. A significant body of his work focuses on the demanding and challenging field of nonlinear stochastic structural dynamics. Dr Mitseas research interests include uncertainty quantification, modelling and analysis of (stochastic) dynamical systems with diverse applications in civil/structural engineering as well as theoretical and applied mechanics. He is a member of several international professional associations, including ASCE, EMI, SEI, EASD, and TEE-TCG and he has served as a peer reviewer for at least 25 academic journals. Dr Mitseas is particulalry active in organizing mini-symposia as well as chairing sessions in prime international conferences in his field. Lastly, he has already been successful in attracting a highly competitive research grant from German Research Foundation which highlights his recognition as early career researcher at the highest level of promise and excellence.
