Dr Amber Brennan
- Position: Visiting Research Fellow
- Areas of expertise: CFD; Indoor air; shower water aerosolisation
- Email: A.J.Brennan@leeds.ac.uk
Profile
I am an engineer currently working on CFD modelling of the shower environment using multiphase flows. My research expertise is surrounding indoor air flows and the indoor environment specific to airborne particles coupled with municipal water flows.
I have recently completed an PhD/MSc in Fluid Dynamics, which was part of the UKRI funded CDT programme and was additionally supported via UKHSA studentship. Previous to this I completed an MEng/BEng in Mechanical Engineering, both at the University of Leeds and have industrial experience in both the Civil and Mechanical industries.
Research interests
I have an interest in CFD surrounding domestic showers and the associated environment. My interest extends to microbiological considerations surrounding the shower with the goal of understanding mechanisms of pathogen aerosolisation and potential inhalation in this setting. I have a specific interest in using multi-phase flows to develop a model representative of the shower environment. I also have experimental interests in bioaerosol collection and investigation of airborne particles that can be coupled to simulation with a goal to mitigate or control dissemination using these methods.
