Profile

I am a postdoctoral reseracher in the School of Civil Engineering. I am currently working on an EPSRC, UK funded project titled ‘Understanding the cracking behaviour of reinforced concrete elements subjected to the restraint of imposed strains’. I received my PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Leeds. Prior to this, I worked as a structural/civil engineer with experience spanning for many years, gaining a vast experience of working in the construction industry at different levels. I specialised in reinforced concrete engineering, building retrofitting, and finite elements - numerical modelling.

Research interests

  • Restraint of imposed strain in reinforced concrete elements
  • Time-dependent behaviour of reinforced concrete structures
  • Beam-column joints, truss, and struts-tie mechanisms (disturbed  regions)
  • Fibre-reinforced polymers (FRPs)
  • Combined loads and eccentric forces influence of the structural integrity
  • Structural and non-structural cracking in reinforced concrete members
  • Finite element analysis
  • Seismic resistant structures
