Profile
I am a postdoctoral reseracher in the School of Civil Engineering. I am currently working on an EPSRC, UK funded project titled ‘Understanding the cracking behaviour of reinforced concrete elements subjected to the restraint of imposed strains’. I received my PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Leeds. Prior to this, I worked as a structural/civil engineer with experience spanning for many years, gaining a vast experience of working in the construction industry at different levels. I specialised in reinforced concrete engineering, building retrofitting, and finite elements - numerical modelling.
Research interests
- Restraint of imposed strain in reinforced concrete elements
- Time-dependent behaviour of reinforced concrete structures
- Beam-column joints, truss, and struts-tie mechanisms (disturbed regions)
- Fibre-reinforced polymers (FRPs)
- Combined loads and eccentric forces influence of the structural integrity
- Structural and non-structural cracking in reinforced concrete members
- Finite element analysis
- Seismic resistant structures
Qualifications
- PhD Structural Engineering (Reinforced Concrete), University of Leeds UK
- MSc Structural Engineering, USM, Malaysia
- BSc Civil/Structural Engineering, University of Technology, Iraq
