Profile
Dr. B. S. Shashank is a Marie-Curie Research Fellow in Biogeotechnics in the School of Civil Engineering. He was awarded the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions – Individual Fellowship has joined the School of Civil Engineering in February 2022. Prior to this, he was working as an Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Civil Engineering, BITS Pilani, Pilani, India. He has pursued his doctoral studies in Geotechnical Engineering from IIT Bombay. His research interests lie in understanding the natural bio-mediated processes in the geoenvironment, their impact on geomaterials, and the anthropogenic application of these processes in real life scenarios. These applications include underground space creation and utilisation, development of sustainable ground modification and stabilisation methods for weak soils, stabilisation of slopes, protection measures for soil erosion, permeable reactive barriers, degradation and/or valorisation of municipal and industrial waste.
