Dr Shashank B. Subramanyam

Profile

I am a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Geotechnical Engineering in the School of Civil Engineering. I was awarded the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions – Individual Fellowship and worked as a Marie-Curie Research Fellow at the School from February 2022 to January 2024. Prior to this, I was working as an Assistant Professor in the Deptartment of Civil Engineering, BITS Pilani, Pilani, India. I pursued my studies in Geotechnical Engineering at IIT Bombay. My research interests lie in understanding the natural bio-mediated processes in the geoenvironment, their impact on geomaterials, and the anthropogenic application of these processes in real life scenarios. These applications include underground space creation and utilisation, development of sustainable ground modification and stabilisation methods for weak soils, stabilisation of slopes, protection measures for soil erosion, permeable reactive barriers, degradation and/or valorisation of municipal and industrial waste.
