Profile

I am a PhD student at the University of Leeds, working within the Architecture & Urbanism Research Group. My doctoral research, supervised by Dr. May Newisar and Professor Gehan Selim, delves into the topic: "Rethinking Urban Security: The Human Sense of Safety in The Entangled Relationship Between Built Environment and Technology Systems in Open Public Spaces."
Prior to my doctoral studies, I obtained a Master of Science in Interior Design from Eastern Michigan University in the USA. My master's thesis explored the intersection of user experience and human behaviour within museum and exhibition spaces. I have 6 years of experience working as a lecturer in the architecture and interior design department.
I am a talented artist with a passion for drawing and painting. I have showcased my work in numerous exhibitions and competitions. In addition to my artistic pursuits, I enjoy reading and travelling to new places.

Research interests

My core research interest lies in how spaces can best serve the needs of people and communities.  I am particularly fascinated by the interplay between space design's evolving nature and technology's rapid development. My research focuses on how these elements can be combined to create spaces that address human cultural, social, and psychological needs within urban environments.

Specifically, my research focuses on human perception and the sense of safety within public open spaces in urban environments. I examine how technology interacts with the built environment to shape city security and how this interaction can be optimised to create a sense of well-being that provides fundamental human needs.
