Kaiyuan Wei

Profile

I am currently a postgraduate researcher at the University of Leeds, under the joint supervision of Dr. Han and Professor Leon Black. I obtained my master's degree from the China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing), where my research focused on the macro and micro-scale properties of coral sand mortar.

Research interests

My research primarily focuses on the development of low-carbon cement and concrete materials, alongside the reutilization of waste concrete. The objective is to enhance the sustainability of construction practices by mitigating the carbon footprint associated with conventional cement and concrete production. My project delves into innovative formulations and techniques that improve the performance and environmental benefits of these cement and concrete materials. Furthermore, I am interested in the development of concrete materials that incorporate recycled aggregates and powder, thereby promoting circular economy principles within the construction industry. By investigating the multiscale characteristics of these sustainable materials, I seek to ensure they meet the performance standards required for practical applications.
