Profile
I research the impact of road transport on the environment. I develop and apply new approaches to survey and model the emission performance of the UK/ EU road transport fleet. I use this evidence base and research capability to design and assess the impact of policy interventions such as Low Emission Zones, and promote / incentivise Low Emission Vehicles.
I have established myself as a leading UK road transport emissions and urban air quality academic, for example being invited to give oral evidence to the Commons Select Committee ‘Vehicle Type Approval - evidence session’ on December the 14th 2015. I am helping shape the UK Air Quality strategy through numerous projects for DEFRA, DfT, Local Authorities and a long-term funded advisor role (FTE 20%) with Transport for London.
The findings from this programme of high impact, interdisciplinary research are widely disseminated in academic publications and wider media, and are embedded in my teaching activities in the Institute for Transport Studies and School of Civil Engineering, as MSc Programme Leader and Associate Professor.
