Profile
Dr Rob Purdy holds a BSc in Mathematical Physics from the University of Nottingham, an MSc in Physics from the University of Sussex, and a PhD in Theoretical Physics from the University of Liverpool. His PhD thesis focused on renormalisation of non-anticommutative (N=1/2) supersymmetric theories.
Rob joined the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Leeds in 2013. His teaching interests are in the areas of particle physics, quantum field theory, classical mechanics and mathematical physics.
Rob is also the admissions tutor for the School.

Research interests
Rob's research interests in Physics tend to focus on field quantisation, unified field theories, renormalisation, supersymmetry, and physics beyond the Standard Model. His research interests in Physics Education are in novel assessment methods, transitions in Higher Education, and blended learning.

Student education
Rob teaches across a number of modules in relation to quantum and particle physics. He also supervises third- and fourth-year research projects, and provides academic and pastoral tutoring. In terms of doctorate research, Rob currently co-supervises two students, whose research focuses on electromagnetic field quantisation.
