Professor B J Hickey

Research interests

The various strands of Prof Hickey's research are linked by the ubiquitous spin-orbit interaction. This is investigated by fabricating nano-scale samples in a variety of layered combinations and studying how electrons and in particular, spin, is transported through the structures. We are particularly interested in how combinations of materials leads to new functionality. The principal strands of this research are: Spin Hall Effect including the Spin Hall Magnetoresistance. Spin Coherence. Pure Spin Currents. Quantum transport in single electron devices.
