Matthew Horner


Matthew is a condensed matter theorist and a member of the theoretical physics research group at the University of Leeds.

Matthew holds an integrated MPhys in Physics from the University of Leeds and completed Part III of the Mathematical Tripos at the University of Cambridge, obtaining a MASt in Mathematics


Research interests

Matthew’s research interests lie in topological phases of matter, with an emphasis on the high energy description of these phases. Matthew has been investigating the effective geometric/gravitational  continuum limit description of lattice models such as Kitaev’s honeycomb model and graphene. Matthew has also investigated other gravitational techniques such as the AdS/CFT correspondence when applied to interacting systems of fermions.
