Current 3rd year PhD student in the Molecular and Nanoscale Physics group within the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Leeds. Graduated in 2016 with First class (Hons) MPhys and BSc in Physics with Nanotechnology (Int) from the University of Leeds (+ McMaster University, Canada). Masters dissertation title: Exploring the Effects of Changes in Osmotic Pressure and Temperature on Hydrogel Nanoparticles Using Atomic Force Microscopy and Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis.
My research involves the development of novel bio-hybrid light-harvesting nanomaterials. Specifically using the plant protein Light-Harvesting Complex II (LHCII) reconstituted into proteoliposomes in order to study biophotonics and energy transfer. The techniques I use are steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy, fluorescence microscopy and atomic force microscopy (AFM) alongside several biochemical protein purification techniques. I am also interested in single-molecule fluorescence and ultra-fast spectroscopy methods.
