Dr. Xiling Zhang

Profile

I joined the University of Leeds in June 2024, where my responsibilities are focused on student education in mathematics. I am a member of the Probability and Financial Mathematics research group.

Research interests

My research interests lie in the field of stochastic analysis, particularly stochastic differential equations and their modelling applications. My recent work has been focused on probabilistic solutions of free-boundary problems, diffusion-limited aggregations, mean-field systems and integrate-and-fire models in computational neuroscience.

Qualifications

  • PhD Mathematics, University of Edinburgh, 2017.
  • MSc Financial Modelling & Optimisation, University of Edinburgh, 2011.
  • BSc Mathematics, Fudan University, 2010.

Student education

I typically lead financial maths-themed modules and supervise UG projects in that area during term time. During the summer term I supervise dissertation projects for MSc Statistics and MSc Data Science & Analytics. I am also actively involved in the open-access textbook projects in the School.
