Profile
Dr. Bowen Liu received his MSc degree in Civil Engineering in 2020 from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China. He then joined an EPSRC-funded project since 02/2021, and completed a PhD in Civil Engineering (2025) at the University of Leeds, focusing on three-dimensional behaviour of brickwork masonry arch bridges. Currently, he is appointed as a Research Fellow at the School of Electronic ans Electrical Engineering, working on the evaluating and implementing a novel IoT-based sensor system for monitoring structural health in masonry structures.
Research interests
My research focuses on understanding the long-term behaviour of masonry infrastructure, and monitoring the damage initiation and accumulation in these ageing infrastructures using digital-based and remote sensing techniques.
