Dr Wesley Doorsamy

Profile

Wesley is an Associate Professor at the School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, where he also serves as Deputy Director of Student Education for Curriculum.

Prior to joining the University of Leeds in 2022, he was based at the University of Johannesburg, where he currently holds a position as Visiting Associate Professor. He holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering, an MSc in Engineering, and a PhD from the University of the Witwatersrand. Additionally, he earned a Graduate Diploma in Data Science from the University of London and an MSc in Computer Science (with Artificial Intelligence) from the University of York. He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education.

Wesley was previously awarded the Freestanding and Scarce Skills scholarships and rated as a Researcher by the National Research Foundation of South Africa. He was also recognised as an Affiliate of the African Academy of Sciences (AAS) in 2017, and he is a member of several professional bodies, including the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). He is also a Senior Member of both the South African Institute of Electrical Engineers (SAIEE) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
