Profile

I am a PhD student in environmental engineering at the University of Trento, Italy. My personal and academic interests are based on energy and materials recovery from different waste streams.

Driven by the belief that waste can always be a resource, I would like to contribute to the global effort to close the loop of a circular economy for sustainable processes. Now my research focuses on viable solutions for phosphorus and nitrogen recovery from biowastes, mainly sewage sludge or the organic fraction of municipal solid waste, through hydrothermal processes.

I am visiting the lab held by Dr. Andrew Ross at the School of Chemical & Process Engineering in Leeds to study how to deal with the phytotoxicity effects of hydrochar.

Research interests

Hydrothermal carbonisation, waste management, nutrients recovery, hydrochar upgrading for soil application.
