Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET)

Our partnership with Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET) provides two pathways for students to progress to the University of Leeds, encompassing both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

The ‘2+2’ programme enables students who have successfully completed the first two years of their four year Bachelor's programme at TIET to join the second year of a BEng programme in the School of Chemical and Process Engineering. Students successfully completing the four year study period graduate with a Bachelor's degree from the University of Leeds.

Improve your English

If you do not meet the English language requirements for either programme you may be able to study our pre-sessional English course, to help improve your English language level. The pre-sessional course is designed with a progression route to your degree programme and you’ll learn academic English in the context of your subject area. To find out more, see Language for Engineering (6 weeks) and Language for Science: Engineering (10 weeks).  If you need to study for longer than 10 weeks, read more about our postgraduate pre-sessional English course.

Fees and scholarships

Once you are enrolled at Leeds you’ll receive a scholarship towards the international tuition fee. This is provided as a partial fee waiver for each year of the programme at Leeds, subject to making satisfactory academic progress.  Please contact Dr Andrew Ross (Leeds) or Professor Ajay Batish (TIET) for further information about this scholarship.
