Why did you decide to study a masters at the University of Leeds?

As one of the best universities in the UK, the University of Leeds has a good reputation in my home country and all over the world. A lot of tutors and friends have recommended me to do my MSc here in Leeds, as one of the top research engineering departments in the UK, led by highly and outstanding academic staff and researchers, with good environment and facilities for studying.

What has been the best aspect of studying on your course and at the University so far and why?

The best aspect of being a student at the University of Leeds is that pushing your ambitions up, as well as making you always seeking for best outcomes of your work. In addition, the wide variety of multidisciplinary modules that the course offers. The course provides you with the theoretical knowledge in addition to practical work, as some of the modules are computer based learning and some are laboratory based learning. The Loads of teachers and leading professors who are experts and specialist in various areas such as, solar energy, wind energy, combustion, pollution, and biofuels.

Tell us about some of the exciting projects you have completed

As being a student at the University of Leeds, I have been involved in several group and individual projects that have introduced me with real examples of life around me. I am currently working on my dissertation project, which is looking at the performance of the domestic solar power systems at various UK sites with comparison with the expected performance, and also looking for the potential of solar energy to contribute to renewable energy targets for 2020.

What does Leeds as a city have to offer students?

Leeds is a great place to be a student. Leeds is vibrant city and one of the most beautiful cities in the UK. It has a wide variety of choices such as markets, shops, and cafes to please everyone’s palate. It also offers a multitude of social activities that can enhance your experience intellectually and socially, simply, there is something for everyone in Leeds.

What are your ambitions for the future?

Hopefully, after this year, I can come back and do a Ph.D. here in Leeds to continue developing my experience and enhancing my skills, as well as adding in-depth knowledge to what I have gained. once I gain additional experience , my long-term plan involves continuing in the same area in my home country where I can continue to learn , enhancing my confidence , take on additional responsibilities , and contribute as much of value as I can.

What experiences at Leeds do you think will help you in your future career?

Doing an MSc in Leeds has taught me a lot of things. The course continually pushes you in different directions, so you always have to learn and you have to develop yourself. Working under pressure and being able to sort all the work that you are given in busy time and meeting the deadline, definitely, will help me in my future career as to manage my time appropriately , and being able to take the responsibility.

What would you say to students coming to do the same course?

MSc in Leeds is very challenging. However, it is a valuable and incredible experience that will provide you with a great level of knowledge academically and socially. It also provides you with invaluable skills. The course requires determination and hard work, you should pursue a master's in this course if you are passionate about the subject, so if you have the determination and you are a hard worker, Leeds is your place.
