Profile
Dr Li is a chartered energy engineer and leading a team in emissions and alternative fuels research in the School of Chemical and Process Engineering. His research covers real world driving emissions, combustion and emissions of alternative fuels from engines and vehicles including road, rail and air transportation. He is currently supervising (including co-supervising) 10 PhDs and has more than 150 peer reviewed journal and international conference publications. Dr Li is a member of: the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) International Vehicle and Engine Emissions Committee; Fuels and Lubricant Committee; Coal, Biomass & Alternative Fuels (CBAF) Committee of ASME IGTI (American Society of Mechanical Engineers International Gas Turbine Institute) and Energy Institute Individual Case Procedure (ICP).
He is currently leading and involved in multiple project, e.g. Demonstration of a base metal Low-temperature Catalytic converter for deNOx (LowCat Demo), Evaluation and optimisation of industrial prototype deNOx (LowCat) catalytic converter (LowCat Optim), Tailored Production and Utilisation of Sustainable Low Cost Lignocellulosic Advanced Biofuel Blends as Diesel and Petrol Substitutes:SusLABB, A Holistic Hydrogen Approach to Heavy Duty Transport (H2H), Batch Gasification of Distillery Waste Biomass for renewable distillery fuel. Dr Li is the only invited academic Expert on the EU Portable Emission Measurement System for Non-Road Mobile Machinery (EU-PEMS NRMM) Pilot Program. He has been involved in EPSRC projects (LANTERN) Leeds health Air quality, Noise, Traffic, Emissions Research Network; RETEMM (REal world Traffic Emissions Measurement and Modelling); FUTURES (Future Urban Technologies: Undertaking Research to Enhance Sustainability) and EU projects Clean power for transport infrastructure deployment; SWAFEA (Sustainable Way for Alternative Fuels and Energy in Aviation) and Aircraft Decontamination for Infection Control — Transition to the European Engineering, Regulatory and Operational Context etc. He has published more than 150 peer reviewed journal and international conference papers.
