Dr Bidisha Tah Roy

Profile

I am a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Dr Yi-Yeoun Kim’s group at the School of Chemistry, University of Leeds, starting May 2024.

Recent project focus: My current research focuses on exploiting macromolecular crowding (MC) to generate Liquid Mineral Phases (LMPs) and characterising the composition and properties of LMPs in common minerals.

Previous experience: Before joining Dr. Yi-Yeoun Kim’s group, I worked as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant under Professor Fiona Meldrum in the School of Chemistry at the University of Leeds from July 2022 to April 2024.

My research during this period included:

• Studying guanine crystallization at neutral pH and controlling polymorph and morphology.
• Comparing the growth rates and mechanisms of calcite and aragonite crystals under identical environmental conditions.

Prior to my tenure at the University of Leeds, I served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Ben-Gurion University in Israel under the supervision of Professor Amir Berman. My research focused on investigating the effects of additives and templates on the nucleation of calcium carbonate crystallization.

I completed my PhD in 2014 at the Research Institute Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (Jadavpur University), India. My doctoral research extensively explored lipid-protein interactions at aqueous and air-water interfaces.
