- Thesis title: Photo-responsive compounds for applications as spin-crossover materials and biomolecular targeting agents.
- Supervisors: Dr Orde Munro, Professor Malcolm Halcrow
Profile
I am a first year PhD student in the School of Chemistry under the supervision of Dr Orde Munro and Professor Malcolm Halcrow. My project is sponsored by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). I graduated from the University of Central Lancashire in 2023 with an Integrated Master’s award in Chemistry (MChem) and I was also awarded the Best Student award for the MChem class of 2023.
Research interests
My PhD project focuses upon the synthesis of novel photoresponsive spin-crossover materials and also includes the computational modelling of such complexes using programs such as xTB and Gaussian. This is primarily focused upon iron (II) bis(dipyrazolyl pyridine) complexes containing light responsive moieties within the ligand framework.
