So what are you doing in your research project?

I am working on the inhibition of protein-protein interactions (PPIs) by developing proteomimetic scaffolds – in particular I’m developing a method which will allow efficient synthesis of a general scaffold to be applied to a range of PPIs. The PPIs which I am targeting are involved in cancer.

Why did you choose to stay on and study for your PhD in Leeds?

I really love Leeds and I enjoyed the project which I did in my final year. The project I am doing now is a follow on from my fourth year. Obviously my Masters was just a small section and then doing my PhD it just opened up lots of different areas of chemistry, and biology as well.

What would you say to other students thinking of coming to Leeds University?

You meet people from all over the world who you would never get to meet and living with your friends and going out and having your own independence. I feel proud that I have got my degree and my masters at Leeds.
