Zhenghui Wu graduated from the University of Leeds in 2020 after completing his Masters degree course in Chemistry. He is currently working as a Drug Development Engineer at Haosi, a biotechnology company based in China.
Zhenghui has always been interested in Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics, and he chose to study the MSc in Chemistry because he felt he would be able develop his knowledge and skills he needed for a career within the chemical sciences industries. Furthermore, the University of Leeds has a great reputation in China which he believed a degree from Leeds and the experience gained will provide him the edge to find the career he wanted.
During his studies, Zhenghui gained solid theoretical knowledge and extensive hands-on practical experience within the laboratory by undertaking a practical skills module. “The University of Leeds gave me an international perspective which has helped me a lot in my career progression. I am proud to be the only fresh graduate employed in Haosi.”
He added, “My tutor was very nice and helpful and my classmates were friendly and kind. I made a lot of new friends in Leeds whom I still keep in touch with. During my independent original research project, I worked on the research and development of in vitro diagnostics (IVD) and had the opportunity to learn and utilise analytical chemistry techniques such as high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC-MS).
The University of Leeds gave me an international perspective which has helped me a lot in my career progression.
Since graduating from Leeds, Zhenghui has been working in Haosi, a biotechnology company based in China. He is currently working as a Drug Development Engineer in Haosi, and is pleased that he was able to find a job in the chemical sciences industry so soon after graduation.
