Why did you decide to study at the University of Leeds?

I decided to study at the University of Leeds because of its academic excellence and Russell Group status.

What has been the best aspect of studying on your course and at the University and why?

The best aspect has been the mixture of practical and theoretical elements. I have learned the core principles behind Computer Science and built industry-relevant skills at the same time.

Tell us about some of the exciting projects you have completed so far?

I was part of a software engineering team which built a booking system for a training course company. I thoroughly enjoyed applying the agile principles into a practical project. We developed the software iteratively and this enabled us to deliver the most important features first.

What does Leeds as a city have to offer students?

Leeds is a fantastic city. It has a great food & drink scene and attracts some of the biggest artists to play at the First Direct Arena.

What are your ambitions for the future?

My ambition is to work in a multi-disciplinary digital team as a software developer.

What experiences at Leeds do you think will help you in your future career?

The group work has helped me understand the importance of teamwork and leadership. The theoretical element of the course has helped improve my fundamental understanding of Computer Science. The Engineering Employability team and Careers Centre have provided me with great support to help me apply to Graduate Schemes.

What would you say to students coming to do the same course?

It’s a brilliant course that is both challenging and rewarding in the vibrant and cultured city of Leeds.
