Ioannis Koumparou

What have you been doing since finishing your studies? What are you doing in terms of your career?

I am a researcher at the PV laboratory of the University of Cyprus working on EU funded projects promoting renewable energy sources via policy recommendations, development of new electricity tariffs, deployment of parts of the smart grid and the development of PV power prediction tools.

What company are you currently working for, what is your role and what does it involve?

Research, project management, project proposal writing, project meetings, report writting and presentation of results

Looking back, why did you choose to study your particular course and why did you choose the University of Leeds?

I chose my course due to my passion for RES and especially PV systems. I chose Leeds Uni as I did my undergraduate studies their and it was an excellent experience. Also the ranking of the University was important as well as the quality of the research.

What were the best aspects of your academic life at University and why? Any highlights?

Very good, helpful and knowledgeable instructors. Modern facilitiesGood laboratories.

What advice would you give to students thinking about choosing the same area of study at Leeds or thinking about the same career?

Focus on the Masters Dissertation. It is the most important part of your study.
