Why did you decide to study a masters at the University of Leeds?

I chose to study at the University of Leeds because it is one of the best universities all over the world. Especially, in the School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering. It has many resources for students to learn. Besides, the good reputation of the school, the professional professors also attracted me to choose it. It provides a lot of resources for students to gain professional knowledge. It also owns a suitable environment to cultivate their interests.

Leeds has a really nice environment for spending my life to explore any interesting things regardless of living, studying and social ability. Therefore, it is a really unforgettable experience to study in such an amazing university.

What is the best aspect of studying on your course and at the University so far and why?

In my opinion, the best part of studying on my course is the abundance of resources and knowledge to be acquired. It combines the theoretical and practical aspects of engineering. In addition, it provides many electrical devices in the labs so it is useful for the student to build their projects. Through manipulating the experiments, students can strengthen the concepts of developing the electronic knowledge. I am satisfied with my studies at the University of Leeds because it gives me a nice environment to develop my practical knowledge.

Tell us about some of the exciting projects you have completed.

In the third semester, every student completes a project by themselves. It is a better opportunity for students to learn and build the products independently. I think it is also a good chance to accumulate the experiences before I get a job in the company. My project is related to smart devices and it integrates the hardware and software to create the devices to measure the signal. I learned how to design the circuit using the academic printed circuit board (PCB) software to draw the circuit. Also, I needed to simulate the circuit and write the software program. Actually, there were many tasks to be completed in the finite time. However, I really appreciated the chance I had to acquire all of the knowledge at the University of Leeds.

What does Leeds as a city have to offer students?

Apart from the good reputation of studying at the University of Leeds, Leeds is also a nice city for students to explore different interesting things. When I walk out onto the main street, I can feel Leeds is a young city. There is a big shopping mall, Trinity, in the city center, so it can satisfy those who enjoy shopping to have a shopping experience. Besides, there are many coffee shops, pubs, and restaurant in the city, it provides a serene environment to spend time in the afternoon. By the river, there is a good place to have relaxing walks with friends at the weekend, it allows students to take a rest when they want to enjoy outdoor activities.

What are your ambitions for the future?

In the future, I am hoping I can join a famous company to show my ability. In addition, during the three years periods, I would like to accumulate the practical experiences to make myself strong and independent to deal with any challenges. After that, I expect I could be the project leader to cultivate a team and share the experience with them.

What experiences at Leeds do you think will help you in your future career?

In terms of planning a future career,  the experience of doing project work really helps students to get more confidence. The course allows students to manage their time in order to complete the project by the given deadline. It can cultivate them to control their time to finish the tasks. Also, there are many social activities so that the students can make friends with any person from the different countries. It's also a good chance to cultivate their international viewpoints and enhance their social skills. Thus, I think all of the experience is beneficial for students to improve their abilities. It also allows them to have the different life experience to face career challenges.

What would you say to students coming to do the same course?

Studying in Leeds is really a great experience, regardless of living or studying. It provides a wider range of resources for students to explore. There are many great electrical types of equipment in the lab and practical modules. Most importantly, before a student enters into the career, it can strengthen students having professional knowledge and confidence to face any challenges. Therefore, for those who are coming to the MSc programme, it will be a very interesting and unforgettable experience in your life.
