Adam Robinson

For almost as long as I can remember I have been truly passionate about design. Throughout my schooling I took every opportunity to find out more and get experience in a broad range of specialisms, from architecture to automotive design, ergonomics to product design.

Today I am the managing director of Disruptive Innovation, an award winning innovation consultancy based in the centre of Leeds. 

I first came to the city for a University of Leeds open day. It was here that I finally made my choice: product design was best for me. I liked the way the Leeds course mixed technical engineering skills with consumer, market and commercial considerations. 
I was particularly inspired by the strong focus at Leeds on eco-product design. I have now co-authored the specialist textbook, Eco-Suss, which I hope will inspire the next generation of designers to minimise the environmental impact of the products they design. 

Eco-design is at the heart of what we to do at Disruptive Innovation; our international reputation in this design specialism enables us to deliver successful commercial projects. The business has grown rapidly and now works with over 20 Yorkshire businesses, plus a growing number of national PLC’s and global corporations, to develop innovative products and services.
