Mechatronics and Robotics MEng BEng (Industrial)
Jefferson graduated in 2019 with an Integrated Masters degree in Mechatronics and Robotics. He is currently a Product Designer working at The Making Rooms. He shares his experience studying at Leeds, as well as his industrial placement year at No Limit Designs.
He said: "My lecturers were involved in the latest robotics research that impacts our lives in a big way – it’s an exciting area."

Electronic and Electrical Engineering MEng, BEng
Melissa Hartmann, who studies Electronic and Electrical Engineering MEng, BEng, talks about some of the reasons she chose Leeds:
"I was initially drawn to the University of Leeds due to its prestigious reputation in engineering and because some of my secondary school teachers had taught or studied here. It was not until I learned about the combination of a rigorous curriculum, the support from the LUU with the vast number of opportunities, and the ambitious atmosphere that made me certain I wanted to be part of Leeds Uni community.
"I particularly like the pedagogic approaches in learning because we are given a variety of learning methods that allow us to use and develop what we are taught in an effective manner.
"Leeds is one of the largest student cities in the UK and what I particularly like about it is the structure of the city with the universities. This is because despite it being large, it is small enough to have a sense of student community.
"It is also a vibrant city with lots of events going on every day and opportunities to engage in activities with a variety of international students, as well as local citizens which is ideal for a foreign student like myself. These range from having an Otley run experience in the multiple pubs and bars, different themed nightclubs, local and international weekly gigs, art exhibitions, group jogs or Leeds Marathon, kilo vintage clothes sales and free screenings or feasts in different venues."

Mechatronics and Robotics MEng, BEng
Kavandeep chose to study at Leeds because of its location alongside its renowned academic reputation. She was particularly enthralled after hearing Professor Ian Robertson speak at an Open Day, where he described the world as being on the “cusp of a technological revolution”.
She said: "Seeing a physical prototype work (or not) for the first time is what bridges the gap between a lecture and a lab. Being able to explore my own passions for designing and building devices has really been the highlight of my course.”

Electronics and Renewable Energy Systems MEng
Mohammad Sohaib Saif is currently in his second year, studying the Integrated Masters programme in Electronics and Renewable Energy Systems. He was one of the members of Team AirKroydon, who participated in last year’s (2020) CleanTechChallenge global competition.
“The University of Leeds is a top university in the UK, and being part of the Russell Group Universities, the University contributes to research and innovation, especially in the engineering industry. My choice was made based on quality education, location, affordability and job opportunities.
"I believe that there are immense opportunity for young people to develop academically and professionally at Leeds, especially with all the support that is available to us. I feel extremely lucky to have good people around me, mainly my professors and my tutors who are always pushing me to do my best and reach my potential.
"I wanted to be part of the amazing research community that are making and building a better future."
