What does the city of Leeds have to offer students?

The city of Leeds offers anything and everything. The city has a diverse of restaurants to try out different foods. It has beautiful parks where you can have a picnic with friends. There are beautiful sites that you can visit and appreciate history. As I like shopping, I also had many options of shops to pick from when I needed something new to wear.

What have been the best aspects of studying on your course and why?

The best aspect was learning with students who come from a diverse range of cultures across the globe. This allowed me to appreciate other people’s cultures in addition to my own.

Why did you decide to study at the University of Leeds?

I had always wanted to study Physics at Master’s level, but combine it with a business course. After carrying out my research, I found that the University of Leeds offered both. This prompted me to apply.

Tell us about some of the projects you have completed so far

I had a module titled ‘Group Industrial Project’ in which my team and I were put to the task of working on a Unilever product. This helped me understand and appreciate how we can use physics concepts to analyse a product on the market.

I also completed my dissertation that looked at ‘assessing the potential of using physics virtual laboratories in Zambia’. It was interesting to learn that I can actually show the importance of physics in the business world too.

What experiences at Leeds do you think will help you in your future career?

My learning experience and knowledge will allow me to make decisions with a different perspective. I will now be able to execute my knowledge in the real world and help provide solutions that solve physics/business problems.

As a teacher, I am confident that I will disseminate the right content knowledge learnt from the University of Leeds to my students back in Zambia.

What’s the most important thing you’ve learned during your time at university?

I have learnt that the only thing stopping you from chasing your dreams and achieving your goals is you. You must find yourself and believe that you can do it if you wish to succeed.
