- Programme manager: Data Science and Analytics MSc, Statistics MSc, Statistics with Applications to Finance MSc
- Research area: Statistics
- Job title: Lecturer in Statistics
I am a Lecturer in Statistics at the School of Mathematics, University of Leeds . After graduating "cum laude" in mathematics at the university of Naples 2 , I received my PhD in applied mathematics from the University of Naples “Federico II”.
Before moving to the UK, I was Lecturer (ricercatore) at the University of Naples “Parthenope” in the Faculty of Economics, where I acquired my expertise on economic data modelling, and a member of the Bioinformatics Core of the Telethon Institute of Genetics and Medicine (TIGEM) in Naples, where I was responsible for the statistical analysis of biological data sets produced by the institute. During my years at TIGEM, I gained a vast experience in processing Next Generation sequencing data and experimental design.
I was then awarded a 2 year Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship which I carried out in the research group of Professor Neil Lawrence across the Departments of Computer Science and Neuroscience (SITraN), University of Sheffield, UK.
My multidisciplinary background gives me the opportunity to be involved in different research projects with particular focus on biological and economic data. I am very interested in software development associated with my work and I am a supporter of research reproducibility in general. What really drives me is solving new challenges in real data applications while contributing to methodological development. My main areas of expertise are time series data analysis, classification and Network inference and validation.
In my role as programme manager for the MSc in Data Science and Analytics, Statistics and Statistics with applications to Finance, I am involved in the future career planning of our students, helping them to connect their background knowledge to their ambition for the future. I look forward to continuing supporting the talented students that join our Masters programs in the school of mathematics.
