He is Research Fellow in Design and Virtual Reality at University of Leeds on the NOVA_VIDA research project. He holds a MArch (hons) in Architectural Design (2013) and a PhD in Architecture (2018) both from the University of Naples Federico II. In 2016 and 2017 he was Visiting Researcher at the Faculty of Architecture, Planning and Design of the National University of Rosario in Argentina. Mirko started to work as teaching assistant soon after graduation at the Department of Architecture of the University of Naples Federico II and in the academic year 2018/2019 he was Adjunct Professor in the course of Architectural Design-I of the Bachelor Degree at the same university. He is also a chartered architect, registered in Italy and UK at the ARB, with more than five years’ experience after qualification.
Mirko Russo has experience in the architectural and urban design studies, in particular in the relationship between the residential and public spaces. He his also interested in the theory of architecture, in particular about the development of the architectural language in relationship with the materials and construction technique. The main topic of his latest investigations is the concept of tectonic and how it has changed from the XIX Century to modern times. His PhD dissertation Architecture and Tectonic. Design and construction of the Argentine Architecture between 50s and 70s of XX century is focused on the work of three Argentine architects of the XX Century: Amancio Williams, Clorindo Testa and Mario Roberto Alvarez.
