Profile
Professor of Project Management. Educated in Politecnico di Milano has a Bachelor and Master in mechanical engineering (2006) and a PhD “Cum Laude” in Industrial engineering, economics, and management (2011). His research area is project management in large and complex infrastructure. Giorgio also works as a consultant and visiting academic for several institutions, including the IAEA and the UK government. He attracted about 1 million euro in research founds. He is the co-author of more than 100 international peer-reviewed publications. Giorgio sits in the editorial board of several journals including the three most prestigious project management journals: “Project Management Journal” (where is senior editor), the “International Journal of Project Management”, “Construction Management and Economics”, "Progress in Nuclear Energy"
Research interests
- Project Management in Complex Infrastructure & Megaprojects. Focus on performance, cost-benefit analysis, financing, risk management, ethics, governance, strategy and modularisation
- Energy infrastructures. Focus on energy infrastructure/ energy economics: nuclear power plants & Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), decommissioning, cogeneration and energy storage, nuclear law. Particular interest in the real options analysis
- System Engineering Management. Focus on sanitation infrastructures and complex systems
