Research interests

  • Performance enhancement of existing masonry structures;
  • Use of near-surface mounted reinforcement for the rehabilitation of masonry arch bridges, viaducts and tunnel linings;
  • Design strategies for the rehabilitation, conservation or preservation of existing structures;
  • Development of design strategies for the rehabilitaiton, repair or strengthening of masonry structures (in particular masonry arch bridges);
  • Strengthening of reinforced concrete structures;
  • Repair and rehabilitation of reinforced concrete structures;
  • Teaching of design;
  • Teaching: the integration of construction-related disciplines in UG programmes;
  • Engineering taught programme development
