Dr Marco Colombo

Profile

I joined the School of Chemical and Process Engineering as Research Fellow in 2013 after obtaining a MSc degree in Nuclear Engineering and the PhD from the Polytechnic University of Milan. Since joining the University of Leeds, my research focus has been computational fluid dynamic simulation of bubbly, boiling and buoyancy-driven flows for nuclear reactor thermal hydraulics and passive safety. Previous research activities include experimental and numerical modelling of boiling flows and two-phase thermal hydraulic instabilities. My general interests are in multiphase flows, thermofluid dynamics and nuclear reactror thermal hydraulics. I'm a member of the UK Fluids Network Special Interest Group in Nuclear Reactor Thermal Hydraulics.

Research interests

  • Multiphase computational fluid dynamics
  • Thermofluid dynamics, boiling and natural convection
  • Nuclear reactor thermal hydraulics
  • Passive safety in nuclear reactors
