What course are you studying?

I am studying MSc Petroleum Production Engineering – one of the courses offered by the School of Chemical and Process Engineering at the University of Leeds.

What has been the best aspect of studying on your course and at the University so far and why?

The professors are extremely passionate about what they do and wanted me to become better day to day. They were eager to teach their students for the world of oil and gas industry ahead. The staff and students really cared about me, and I was respected and appreciated for my opinions. The university also provides its students with a superb education and a very solid foundation for its graduates.

Tell us about some of the exciting projects you have completed

I did a project of drilling simulation. This project aimed to teach me the principles and recommended procedures practiced, along with suggested ways of improving drilling activities in the world.

What does the city of Leeds have to offer students?

Leeds is surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK, with the Yorkshire Dales National Park. There are plenty of museums on offer, too, with free entry – such as the Royal Armouries, Leeds Art Gallery and the City Museum. The West Yorkshire Playhouse has great theatre shows that often offer student discounts. I would say that Leeds is the best city for student life in the UK.

What experiences at Leeds do you think will help you in your future career?

I joined with the Society of Petroleum Engineers, Leeds Student Chapter. It gave me a lot of friends and connections, not only from the UK but also from throughout the world.

What would you say to students coming to do the same course?

You will build meaningful relationships with your professors and just about anyone else you meet on campus. This is the strongest reason why I love my course.
